Doughboy Through a Window

A part of the studio Wollumbin series. These pieces ,all on paper, were created both on site and later also in the studio reworked and reapplied. They tell stories about the local landmark Mt Warning [Wollumbin] ,the place that catches the first light on the east coast of Australia and its immediate surrounds. It is a sacred site for the local Bundjalung people and men only are supposed to climb to the top. Women's business is around the base of the mountain where all of these representations were drawn from. The place has always held a certain magic and mystery and story of the long and wonderful dreamtime . Some of these artworks are designed to have an impact on how we culturally relate to our indigenous relatives, our earth and the wildlife that resides freely on it. Turiya has really enjoyed the times she wandered and drew around this beautiful old volanic plug, reminding us all  to keep uprising our own caring creativity.

39 x 52.5 cm. Mixed media on paper. POA.
